Latest New Site Design Screenshot
I think this will be the last screenshot before my designer starts coding, so please leave your feedback now or forever keep your peace!
Apart from the site logo and sitename, I think we are almost there and my remaining issues can be dealt with on a live site.
Let me know what you think:
The areas I would like to play with are:
- Colours, particularly the yellow links as I’m a big fan of blue links
- The colour block under each post - maybe replace with a line/border?
- Making the links in the header nav stand out more
What do you think of the progress so far? Any suggestions for improvements?

Everton, did the design bug bite you… such that every 3 or so months, you tinker with the layout?
Web Designing gets me such a high. Shifting blocks, changing colors, modifying logos. It can be more fun that designing buildings and homes (which actually happens to be my mainline preoccupation)

@DWD
That’s why it’s called ‘latest’. Can you please stop using anchor text and use a real name

It has change again?

I’ve found the same thing with Adsense in the right sidebar. I think it’s better to put links and/or banner type ads in those positions. But, looks like that’s what you’re doing anyway. Overall, looks ready to implement.

The color blocks below the posts - I think a border or a lighter color would be better. I like blue links better too.

I like this current design but the layout in the post is also great… but I’m not a designer

yes, Google looks into the site code and splits into many layers, 1) Before content, 2) With content, 3) Bottom, 4) Side bars. Now the 2nd options gets a high value and even the 1st option too. Left bar will bring more income that right bar, as the code falls before the content.
Comment by Everton on 15 October 2007:
I’ve found that sidebar adsense units have a poor CTR rate (no point having contextual ads in the sidebar miles away from the content) so I removed them to try and improve the CPM of my main units through Smart Pricing

Tantalizing. I think it’s a great enhancement on the standard TypoXP template.
No adsense 160×600 on the left or right?
