Bloggers Cribs: Mikael Svardh!!

Fosfor Gadgets

Welcome to the Sixth Edition of Bloggers Cribs!!!

Each week on Bloggers Cribs features one blogging ’superstar’, who will let us briefly into their homes to share what gadgets and other electronic delights they have dotted around their home, so you can see if they actually use the products they blog about.

So far we’ve had a brief look into the lives of Matt Craven, Darren Rowse and Leo Babauta. I’m hoping that this week we will have some gadgets to talk about, after a few sparse but interesting weeks.

This week on Bloggers Cribs, we have Mikael Svardh from Fosfor Gadgets. Mikael is my other blogging partner in crime (the other is Martin Brinkman from gHacks). We try to link to each other whenever we can as well as sharing ideas and tips. As a gadget blogger, I’m expecting to find a lot of kit in Mikael’s pad….

Where do you live Mikael?

Stockholm, Sweden

PC or Mac and why?

PC. I actually decided to buy a MacBook Pro a couple of months ago but they was out of stock so I had to settle with another PC laptop.

How many PCs do you own?

I have three of them.

  • Xbox 360 HD DVD connected to a HTPC

A HTPC (AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000, HD DVD, 2GB RAM & 800 GB storage running Vista Ultimate).

  • A stationary Fujitsu-Siemens (Intel P4 2.4 Ghz, 1GB RAM running XP)& 21 inch flat scren.
  • A laptop (HP 6715b - Turion 64 X2 TL-60 2.0GHz / 2048MB / running Vista Business)

What PC rig do you use to manage your site?

I actually don’t know what kind of hardware it’s running on. I host it at a local company in Sweden that takes care of everything.

IE, Firefox or other?

Both. I switch all day long…they both have their advantages.

What mp3 player do you own?

Currently I’m using a black iPod video 80GB.

How big is your mp3 collection?

I have no idea, it’s quite big but I’m only listening to a fraction of it.

Object of Desire - what gadget would you buy if money was no option?

Wow, there’s so many gadgets I would love to have. Tonight I did a post on my site about a arcade coffee table - it was $6650 so I would never buy one, but I would l

ove to have one! Or that cool Microsoft surface table!

What has been your most outrageous gadget purchase?

Tough question. Can’t think of anything really outrageous at the moment. I hate buying printers though, they seem to last only 10-11 months and then you have to get a new one.

How many TVs do you own?

I actively use three televisions. The biggest one is a Samsung R75, 32 inch but I’m about to replace that one with a 42 inch full HD panasonic plasma.

What kit do you have in your main AV Centre?

My home theater is really small at the moment. It’s basically just the HTPC at the moment. But I’m about to change that too…

Xbox 360, Wii or PS3? Do you own more than one?

None. But I’m about to get a 360 just to be able to play through Halo 3.

What game are you currently playing?

None. I used to be Editor-in-chief for Gamespot Scandinavia (a site called Solgames) so I played LOTS of games for a couple of years, I think I had enough and that’s why I hardly play nowadays. The last 3-4 years I have basically only played Halo and Halo 2.

Favourite game of all time?

It got to be something I played as a kid on my ZX Spectrum… I would say some game from Ultimate like Sabre Wulf, Underworld or Knight’s Lore. I loved them!

What gadget are you looking to buy in the next year?

iPhone.

The image “http://www.uberphones.com/photos/2007/6/o2-cocoon.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. What mobile(s) do you own? Why did you choose that model?

I change all the time. I have been using the O2 Cocoon the last month.

What gadgets do you carry around in your gadget bag?

Nikol Coolpix S7c, iPod video 80GB and my current mobile whatever model it happens to be. I prefer phones from Sony Ericsson though.

If you could keep only one gadget, what would it be?

My laptop - if you count that one as a gadget, otherwise I would say my iPhone that I currently doesn’t own yet.

There you have it. I’m a bit surprised that Mikael isn’t a gamer, but getting an Xbox 360 to play Halo 3 is a wise move in my book.

Next week I’ll be featuring another celeb blogger. Let me know if there’s any one you want to see in a future Bloggers Cribs, and Everton’ll will try and fix it.

A great interview, a guy who likes his gadgets - but it does give me ideas for ways to spend money!
