Top 5 Video Games Of 2007
So far, 2007 is definitely an excellent year for PC video gamers. Although the year is not over yet, it looks like all upcoming new video games have been announced and thus I feel comfortable to announce my picks for 2007.
One thing that concerns me a bit is the somewhat exaggerated system requirements dictated by companies that develop video games. Unfortunately, in the quest for better graphical performance, video gaming companies have sacrificed their consumers interest, by forcing them to upgrade their PC configuration (specially the Video Card) on a periodic basis.
So here they are, five games that you should at least try to play (even if you are not a gaming addict ). All these games have a demo version that you might wish to try before buying the paid version.
5th place: FIFA 08
Long anticipated FIFA 08 has been released on October 9th. If you like soccer, FIFA 08 is a must. Fellow blogger Dennis Petersen has written lots of useful posts on this topic either in Connected Internet and in his FIFA 08 blog.
4th place:World in Conflict
The best strategy game of the year. In short, your task is to save America in the eve of WWIII. If you are into strategy games and not just shooters, World in Conflict is one you should definitely want to try.
3rd place:Medal of Honor Airborne
Electronic Arts (EA) Medal of Honor Airborne (MOHA) is a WWII first person shooter (FPS) in which you’ll be assuming a paratrooper role joining the 82th Airborne Division during WWII. Mission you’ll assigned to take place in southern Italy, France, Netherlands and Germany. If you are into shooters, this game is a must have. MOHA demo can be downloaded from here.

2nd place:Pro Evolution Soccer 2008
I hope that my next statement won’t be too controversial but, although I like FIFA 08, i think that Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 2008 is the best sports video game of the year. I believe that PES is far better as far as gameplay and graphical effects are concerned. PES 2008 hasn’t been released yet (it will hit the shelves around Europe on October 26th), but you can grab its beautiful demo from here.
And the winner is…BioShock
BioShock, published by 2K Games has revolutionized the first person shooter concept, and it’s definitely the best video game we have seen so far in 2007. In BioShock, your mission is to save Rapture, the hidden city and its inhabitants. The beautiful thing about BioShock is the multiple options you have to transform your body and leverage a powerful arsenal in order to fulfill your mission. Combine that with the extraordinary graphics and you’ll have a winner.

Well, those were my picks, I am sure I omitted a few (did someone mention Halo 3 ?). What are your best games of 2007? Your comments are welcome.

The MOHA needs good enough graphics cards and I miss playing them on my PC. Otherwise the trailors are amazing.

Age of Empires is the best to my opinion. Absolutely loved it

I’d include Stronghold and Age of Empires. The gameplay is amazing especially when you gang up on networked rivals. Beats Command and Conquer for sheer fun when you start raining arrows on their slow letharigic knights!

I like HL2 - this game have a nice graphics and interesting story. I hope Epidode 3 will making very soon. Half-life and continue version change my gaming prioritets.

If you would ask 1000 gamers about their top 5 games you would get 1000 different answers. Your list contains one game that I would recommend as well, that is Bioshock.
I think you are missing some great games and definitely the best game that has been released in 2007 so far, that is Team Fortress 2.
btw, UT99 is the only real game in the Unreal Tournament series

I rarely find time to play PC games these days - always seem to have so much else to do while sat at the PC, hence why I’ve started playing Xbox 360 in front of the tv this year.
That said, I do always try and make time for the Half Life games because they are so well made, I’ve also got Bioshock on my “To Play” list, I thought the demo was very cool having played through it on both Xbox and PC, I’ll probably get it for PC for the mouse/keyboard control system.

I think Call of Duty 4 will replace Medal of Honor on that list when it comes out. Very impressive looking.
