The only thing with free directories is that many of them aren’t even cached by Google, so it will be of no benefit.

Article submission would give you multiple back links but Google has hit back on these sites. Which other search engines do rank sites based on back links?
Does article submission still have a place in the future

I’ve had the same PR 3 on my site for 2 years. I don’t know what I need to do to go up in PR. Ill implement some of the above, however some of that looks complicated.

As far as I remember this site was PR6 even after the PR reduction happened for big sites… it’s unexpected for you to drop to PR3… post title thus seems appropriate.

Well said. All of the above mentioned are great ways to drum up some traffic. Don’t forget link bait. Create a tool and put it on your site for people to use for free and then let people know about it. The backlinks will build fast.
