Find Cheap Broadband Deals

I’ve just had a sponsored review ordered by broadbandsupplier.co.uk that couldn’t have come at a better time, as I’m considering switching broadband providers.

broadbandsuppliers

Although I work in the industry, I like to use different providers so that I can see how the competition fare, and at the moment I have BT Broadband connection and Virgin Media 20Mbps account.

I’ve become increasingly frustrated with the speed capping on the Virgin Media service, which not only kills my speed, but also seems to make services like YouTube unusable. So I’ve been thinking about switching my BT Broadband connection for an ADSL2+ 24Mbps service.

With the huge number of confusing broadband offers available at any point in time, the only way you can be certain of getting the a good deal is to use a service like broadbandsuppliers. Although the service clearly gets referral payments for the deals promoted, the service is still impartial and the cheapest broadband deals can be quickly found by using the comparision tool.

Of course, price isn’t the only factor that needs to be considered, particularly when you hear the horror stories that some users have had with getting their services up and running. A neat feature on the site are impartial reviews that allow users to compare broadband providers and see what the experts think.

There’s also a lot of general guidance on how to select a broadband provider based on what’s important for each type of consumer. For me, it’s getting the fastest speed for the lowest price. I’m lucky enough to live very close to a BT exchange so I get almost the max ADSL speed, so I’m very tempted to switch to be internet who according to the site are doing up to 24Mbps for just £18/mth. That’s an amazing offer, particularly when I’ve just paid $25/mth to get my parents a 1Mbps connection in Jamaica for Christmas!!! I decided to pay for their connection as I can tell they want to learn how to use the internet and see what their son is always babbling on about, but their crappy dial-up connection is really holding back their adventure.

Out of interest, I’d love to hear what readers are paying around the world for their broadband connections. I’m sure that some of you are going to make me very jealous!

Nice review. I’m also with BT and pay £16.99 monthly. What annoys me is new customers seem to get a better offer than existing ones. Only last month they sent me an email advising me I’m over my usage and if it happens again I’ll have to pay. While new customers get unlimited usage for almost the same price. Time to move on I think.

Speaking as a Virgin Media ADSL user (yes, I know it’s different to their cable network), it’s not the capping that is the biggest problem, it’s the poorly setup traffic management that they put in place - Friday before last they instigated major traffic prioritisation changes (of course, without telling anyone), which meant that all streaming/video/VoIP/gaming data were treated as P2P.

For everything except gaming, this meant that performance was at best poor/choppy. But, gaming data is more time sensitive, so what with the massive latency (as well), it meant that gaming was effectively broken - the various 360/PS3 forums were full of irate customers

If you really want to see what performance is like on their ADSL network, have a look at my 24/7 latency/loss/etc monitoring:

Click on ‘year’, and see if you can tell me the month I joined VM’s ADSL services.

I live just 3 -400 yards from my exchange yet my Be 24Mb service gives me no more than about 7 Mb. Now I’m told it’s a “quality of copper” problem!?!???

Ha! Im not surprised. Whenever some marketing snakeoil fella from the DSL companies quote a stat, just halve it to be on the safe side.

    They’re masters of exaggeration
