Preview Of New Eureka WordPress Theme

It’s been a long time coming, but hopefully the new Eureka WordPress Theme will be live on the site tomorrow for everyone to test. Alex the designer is making some final tweaks, which I think will be put us in good enough shape to let you all lose on the theme.

If you want to sneak a peak then head on over to www.windows7news.com which is where Alex is working. I’ve disabled comments on that site so that Alex doesn’t get distracted, but if you have any early comments or spot any bugs can you leave them on this post please.

My last set of comments to Alex are below:

  1. Titles need hover colour - h2, h3, h4 etc
  2. Can you make the h1, h2, h3 text have different colours
  3. Links need hovor colors - main body and sidebar
  4. Can you make the ‘related posts’ and ‘bookmarks’ text look sexier please. Item 2 might do the trick
  5. Can you make the links in the top nav a bit smaller
  6. Can you make the tabs for Top Posts/New Comments a bit sexier please. Can you also change the colour of the currently selected tab please
  7. Font for Roll of honour doesn’t match top posts/new comments
  8. The 125×125 badges aren’t aligned - can you align them in a colum please and add in 4 badges in total so we can see how they look. The bottom badge should be the ‘advertise on this site’ banner you made
  9. Missing format for numbered lists - e.g. the list in this post should be 1,2,3,4,5 etc as the bullets
  10. I don’t like the underline for H4 - can you remove please
  11. Can you do a background colour for <code> - diff to <blockquote>. Can you also italicise <blockquote> please
  12. For the logo (in the header and sidebar) can you use the version that is black where the C and the I intersect
  13. The <li> is too dull
  14. I think you are missing the page navigation at the bottom of each page (i.e. go to page 1, 2, 3, 4 etc)
  15. Do you think a line, border or shading to seperate the post info section at the bottom of posts will make it stand out more?
  16. Can you make the ‘next post’ ‘prev post’, text slightly faded like on this site http://loppl.com/2007/07/25/k2-style-2-headless/
  17. Can you add an alternate colour background for every other comment please
  18. Can you fix the font on’Archive for ‘news’ category on archive pages please http://windows7news.com/category/news/ and also tag pages
  19. Can you make the margins smaller/make better use of blank space e.g.
    • header - make nav strip slimmer once completed #4
    • Main page - gap between start of first post and header smaller, left and right margin smaller in main body
    • Sidebar - move ‘what is RSS’ closer to last badges as there’s a huge gap, make shading behind ’subscribe via email’ smaller, can you see if you can make the ‘Editors picks’ and ‘top posts’ sections a bit wider and reduce the size of the margins within the sections so can get more text in,
    • Single.php - make gap between post title and header smaller, left and right margin smaller in main body smaller, no gap between title and post date, smaller gap between end of post and ’subscribe to this post banner’, smaller gap between subscribe banner and 468×60 banner, smaller gap between related posts list, smaller gap between related posts and categories, smaller gap between ‘posted’ and ‘next post’/'prev post’
  20. 20. Can you make the ‘leave comment’ button a bit smaller
  21. ‘Money Makers’ in sidebar - the ‘join the schemes…’ text should be on the line below the title ‘Money Makers’
  22. Can you replace the ad in the footer with the square ad that is below every post please

    @Marcus

$450, although I haven’t paid yet as there are still a lot of bugs being ironed out. The version that is ‘live’ is a version I’ve been tinkering with, rather than the actual current version, which is on http://www.windows7news.com

Im wondering, how much did the designer charge for the new look (I like it). My sites need an overhaul.
