Six Habits of Highly Kickass Bloggers
Millions of bloggers out there are constantly asking ‘What does it take to become a Kickass blogger with thousands of daily readers, and if it’s your aim, to pull in the big bucks?’
Although there is no guaranteed formula for blogging success, there are a number of factors that are common amongst successful bloggers. if you are serious about joining their ranks, then here are Six Habits of Highly Kickass Bloggers.
1. Focus
Understand the primary theme of your blog. There’s nothing worse than a blog that discusses microprocessors today then high fashion tomorrow. Readers expect consistency. Deviating from the central theme is like wearing a shiny tuxedo jacket over beat up jeans.
2. Loose Jawed
The most successful bloggers love to gossip. They relish their endeavor because sharing sentiments gives them a high. Blogging simply to earn won’t cut it. Do so and you’ll quickly run out of steam- perhaps after the second post!
3. Addicted
Top bloggers spew out content on a predictable cycle. Break the rhythm and the audience finds itself out cold. Would you like it if the Sun decided to rise a few days later than expected?
4. Thick Faced
The more subscribers you gain, the more detractors you amass. There’s no greater evil fun than poking barbs at bloggers earning $20,000 or more. Remember that as your bank account bloats faster than your mother in law- you will have sour-grapers slinging mud. It’s as sure as detah and taxes. Just smile, slough of the slime and churn out more posts. It won’t stop them cussing, but at least their beat up Chevies will eat your Porsche dust.
5. Zesty as a Picanto
I love movies that rip my sides in laughter. I enjoy plays that make me cringe in frozen fear. And I love blogs that tickle the emotions like a maestro on the ivories. Don’t you? Leave the dissertation-style writing to the Profs. Take a more passionate, almost irreverent stance. Let your personality shine as you strive to make your readers laugh and cry. They’ll rave for more.
6. Make it Today
Do you keep saying “someday I’ll do xxx?” If your days a are a series of “somedays”, you’ll never amount to anything. Life will pass you by sneering at the loser you’ll become. Decide that you’ll do TODAY what you keep aspiring for someday. And that includes blogging!

This sounds familiar. I especially think the do it today and being continuous are the most important. There are so many people out there who may be successful, but never try.

Glad to hear that folks. Notice how this blogs implements all that?
Comment by Bob on 18 December 2007:
Good points. I always thought the diversity would be good in my blog, but I think you are right about consistancy now.

True. Varying your theme every week will have visitors saying “wha? Is this guy too scatterbrained?”

I would add an 8th for humor. Humor can make a point so much more quickly than almost any other form of communication. Humor and Zest are the key ingredients.
Comment by Marcus The Critic on 26 December 2007:
And for the 9th, talk about how-to’s, sex, violence and animals. People love that!
