Rubicon Project - Are You On The Beta?
![]()
The Rubicon Project sounds like it could be the answer to a problem I face every month or so, when I am approached by a new ad network wanting me to try their ads. The problem is there’s no way of working out which network will perform the best.
For instance in the past Adsense has been my best performer, but now intellitxt is challenging it for the number one place, and now Tribal Fusion have asked me to try their new inline ad system instead of intellitxt!
The Rubicon Project attempts to help bloggers sift through the numerous ad networks, by automatically deciding for each impression which ad network will perform the best. So instead of having to decide upfront which ad network is the best, the Rubicon system does this automatically in real-time, providing access to 300 ad network choices.
Probably the best way to get to grips with the system, is to watch this 3 min demo. The theory behind the system makes sense e.g if Post A is about the Nokia N95 then a product related ad from Chitika would probably do better than a Tribal Fusion ad, but then a tribal fusion ad might do better on Post B about my holiday, etc etc.
Other potential benefits of the Rubicon system is getting access to other ad networks e.g. latin or chinese specialist networks, and also getting one console allowing ad network performance to be compared side by side.
I’ve put my name down for the beta as I really want to give the Rubicon Project a go. If it works and say increases my eCPMS by 10% I’d be more than happy to pay a percentage of this as a fee. If you’re already part of the project I’d love to hear about your experiences.

Remember the boston consulting group matrix? There’s the Star business, The Dog Business, The ? business and the cash cow business.
Give me the cash cow anytime. Moderate risk, moderate return, and constant predictability

You’ll have to keep us updated on this one, if you try it. I am not that risky, and like to stay with my tried and true money-makers
Rubicon decides which ad to server from which network, based upon which will perform best for the particular type of visitor, page, geography, content etc.

Thanks for all the good questions about the Rubicon Project. I am their BETA publisher guy– so any questions you have, please feel free to get in touch with me or my team (care at rubiconproject dot com). You can also check out our forums at: https://www.rubiconproject.com/forum/
1. We currently pay in US Dollars
2. Unless your site averages more than 300,000 impressions a day, you currently do not log in with your existing ad networks. For sites that average more than 300,000 impressions/day, we also offer a full service solution.
– some of the features currently available to the large sites should be available to all publishers during Q1 (we are currently testing them).
3. Our typical publisher has seen an average of 33%-300% lift in their eCPM.
4. We currently (because we are in private BETA) don’t charge anything for our services.
Thanks for all your questions. I hope I was helpful. Look forward to hearing from you!

Hi,
Have you guys heard of PubMatic? sounds similar to rubicon. i’ve been using pubmatic, they have a few thousand publishers and anyone can sign up. i’ve been using it, pretty cool, it works with tons of ad networks. they have a bunch of pubs who have seen revenues go up a lot, i think one said 100%. i get really good reports too. i wish they had geotargeting.
you do put in your login credentials at pubmatic, but then you get all your reports in one place.

@Tash
Rubicon decides which ad to server from which network, based upon which will perform best for the particular type of visitor, page, geography, content etc. To do this they need to have access to the reports for each ad network so you need to enter your details.
