Get Famous - Be Published!
So you want want to be famous, but you can’t sing, can’t dance, and for the life of you, can’t even act more wooden than the tree in your backyard. So what’s an ego driven fella like you to do? Why- get published of course!
Getting a book out is no longer as tough as it used to be. In the past, newbie authors created a manuscript and left it at publishing house for approval. Many such manuscripts sulked on a desk for months until ending up in the trashbin. This no longer need be with online self-publishing houses, like Booksurge Publishing. Now you can be as famous as you want to be!
Book Surge is a print on demand service that doesn’t charge heavy upfront fees, nor even require you to purchase a single copy of your book. For as low as $99, you can get your book compiled, ISBNed, and shelved in Amazon’s virtual bookstore. They’ll pay you up to 30% per sale which is generous. Traditional houses pay 5%. I personally have a few Booksurge books circulating amazon and making me happy residual income a month.
For the really vain authors who want maximum exposure, Booksurge offers a high end package costing $3600. This option provides you with the talents of a pro editor who reviews your manuscript, implements design upgrades, funnels your books down channels beyond amazon and even hunts for professional reviews to tack on your sales page. You’ll look like the big shot you know you are.
Feed your vanity. Go get published!

That should be a good opportunity for unrecognized authors.
But how does this work, do they print books only after the order is placed?
Comment by Kline on 24 January 2008:
how is the printing quality, and how do they handle ownership of materials? Can you go on to a different publisher in the future if the need strikes you?
Comment by Kline on 24 January 2008:
also, i didnt see the $99 you were talking about
I did see Author’s Advantage Publishing Program - Black & White that run 499
or did you do the author’s express? any tips for making the pdf, etc?
Comment by Kline on 24 January 2008:
whoops, also forgot to mention this.. as i felt it was important
“BookSurge was acquired by Amazon.com in April 2005.” so at least everyone can rest easy in that it is fully legit (not that I was worried, but at least tracking is bound to be 100%)

WOW! This is an excellent opportunity given by Book Surge publishing. It will encourage so many new writers to come in the market and show their talent. I think if it is going to be that easy, I shall also try my hand at writing.

Joe, come on, reply up to my questions. . i want to start writing my book

Replying for Joey: he’s my buddy.
Printing quality is good. I’ve seen the books printed for him, his mom and his friends. They look as good as the bestellers made by bigger houses.
$499 is the package for lazy people. Booksurge compiles your manuscript, creates the basic covers and sells it on amazon.
$99 that Joey mentioned is for the DIY people. YOU will compile the book into PDF, You will design the cover, You will create the amazon writeup.
$499 to $3000…. everythings done by Amazon. Even the author blitzes held in some cities.

cool, thanks

I took the “Cup of Joe” program which cost me $99. For this package, I typed my manuscript in Word according to guidelines, compiled it into PDF and designed my coverpage using Corel Draw. The finished PFD and coverpage image was then uploaded to them.
From ther, it’s their ballgame. The booksurge staff takes about 7 days to process everything and place it online on amazon.
I purchased my own book to see the quality- exquisite! Looks just as good as the stuff you get at borders. Glossy cover, lovely white paper and delightful smell.

This does look like a good idea. I’m sure it will attract a lot of talentless people with big egos though as well as being a great resource for struggling unknown writers!
