Updated To WordPress 2.5 With One Hiccup
I’ve just updated my blog and other blogs that I manage for friends to WordPress 2.5. It all went really well, except for one hiccup on Connected Internet where my permalinks weren’t redirecting properly. All in all though, updating to WordPress 2.5 has been one of the smoothest WordPress updates I’ve had so far.
The permalink issue could have been painful for me if I didn’t spot it. I have some very old external links, some before I even moved to WordPress that use my old Blogware permalink structure. Some of these, like this one from Lifehacker send a lot of traffic, so I really needed to get the redirects working properly. It only took me about two mins to fix which was good.
My first thoughts about WordPress 2.5 was that it looked ‘nice’, and I could see the logic behind the new menu structure, even if it was unfamilar. I particularly liked being able to update plugins within the WordPress dashboard without having to open a FTP client.
One feature I really hope they fix is how the interface stretches to accommodate larger monitors and resolutions. I’m running my monitor at 1280×1024 and although the top frame stretches across the screen, the main content including the editing window don’t. The font also feels a bit too small to me and for some reason I feel like I’m squinting.
I also think the way tags are added is a step backwards. I hate having to click ‘Add’ to add each tag, and the Simple Tags auto-suggest doesn’t seem to work anymore which is a big loss.
Any thoughts on WordPress 2.5 so far?
Update: I’m getting HTTP errors when I try to add images to posts ![]()

you don’t need to add each tag by clicking add
you can input all tags you want, then click add once…
