Max Web Design Blog

I’ve just received my first sponsored review request via ReviewMe to write a post about a fellow blog. To be honest I found it quite hard to start the review as it’s rare that a first visit to a blog is to its homepage. Normally, the first visit is via a link direct to a post from another blog, so you already have an idea of what to expect.

So what is Max Web Design all about? Well, within the site Robert covers a number of topics to help readers improve web design, as well as marketing and search engine tips.

The site has a nice colour scheme that is very easy on the eye. I particularly like the BIG featured article that most definitely gets your attention on the homepage. It’s a concept Martin and I have been experimenting with on Windows 7 News.

I’m not sure though of the wisdom of having the featured article at the top of every article, as it’s quite distracting. The size of the image also seems out of place a bit with the rest of the site, which is very text heavy. There is a lot of text in particular on the homepage and it’s a bit hard to make sense of all the content, particularly when the site navigation is tucked away in the footer.

The current featured article goes into a very lengthy discussion of why obtaining inbound links is good for SERPs i.e search engines use the number of links pointing to a page as one measure of the page’s relevance. It’s a shame though that despite the length, the article doesn’t share any link building strategies.

The Max Web Design blog has only been up and running since September 07, and the slick design Robert has created is a testament to his skills.  I’m sure that at some point he will put together and release a WordPress theme, as that has been my most successful link building strategy with for a few months my TypoXp theme creating over 1,000 links per month.

Robert is posting quite frequently and I’m sure the site will continue to evolve.  If you’re interested in Web Design, then Max Web Design could be a good addition to your feedreader.
