Overclockers UK: Great Customer Service

Overclockers UK

Normally when I write a post about an online store e.g. Pixmania, it’s to warn readers not to shop there. However, after my most recent experience with Overclockers UK I have to do the exact opposite and encourage people to shop there.

I’ve spent a small fortune over the last month upgrading my PCs, TVs, speakers and Amp in anticipation of moving to a new flat. For the PC upgrades I used the components from my main PC to build a new Media Center, and I purchased new parts from Overclockers UK (Abit IP35 Motherboard, OCZ 2×1GB PC-2-8500 and Q6600) including an overclocking guide to go with my existing SwiftTech watercooling to upgrade my main PC.

The guide promised at least a 3.3GHz overclock, but I’ve been having some BSOD problems and random reboots. I called the Overclockers UK tech support line and they said some customers had been having problems with the OCZ ram, so they are going to swap me onto another brand for no charge. They will even refund my postage.

Even better, the friendly tech Matt said once I’ve got my new ram to give him a call so he can personally talk me through overclocking my rig. He said some of his colleagues with water cooling have made managed 4GHz safe Q6600 overclocks, so he’s confident we can better 3.3GHz. I’ll let you know how I get on next week when I have the new ram, as well as full details of my settings if you are looking to replicate my Q6600 overclock.

If you are looking at buying any PC components in the UK, then I definitely recommend buying from Overclockers UK. Not only are there prices competitive and their delivery times fast, but the customer service is unbeatable as well.

Do you have any shops you’d recommend other readers use or avoid?

I have shopped there before and had a great experience. Even being in the US…. I still preferred some of their prices.

My partner has used OCUK for years now, he’s bought just about all his geeky bits there…

He also spends hours on the forums there!

Mesh! - Avoid like the plague. Purcahsed a Quad Core system when the motherboard failed after 3 days. Fair enough, these thing happen. Was told I would have to wait over 2 weeks for a tech to visit to replace the board. This was unacceptable as I use my PC for working from home occasionally. Requested a refund which was finally sorted out after a month of me calling them every day. Terrible customer service
