I run more than fifteen websites monetized by products, ad networks and affiliate programs. Adsense, Tribal Fusion, Clickbank, Commission Junction… I tried em all. They consistently deliver the goods and allow me to bum of royally. One can definitely live off the internet!
But occasionally, I need a spike of cash (like when the gf wants to go on a shopping spree or a family emergency comes up). To solve this problem, I simply turn to my cash cow… Digitalpoint. I snap my fingers and bam! A grand flows in. Well… not always a grand. Sometimes just 4.95 grand. Sometimes less. <grin>
Want to know how I do it?
It’s very easy, really.
If you don’t know, the DigitalPoint forums is a massive marketplace of people selling online expertise. Check out this link:
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=24
Any given second, you’ll find people selling one page ebooks to 200 page behemoths. Anywhere from $2 to $99. Then there are also blokes selling reviews, links, content and the like. You can peddle a PR6 link for $50. You can also peddle copywriting skills for $10. It’s a magical haven to make money if you have expertise.
What’s that I hear? You don’t have any? OF COURSE YOU DO. For as long as you know something the next joe doesn’t, THAT’S EXPERTISE.
Starting early last year, I started producing little info products of systems I use to build traffic, to generate content, to attract readers…. basically stuff I took for granted. Adobe Professional helps me compile these into little ebooks which I then market off with a little NLP expertise. Then pow! I get queries. Then orders. Paypal fills up…. and I fill up my girlfriend’s shopping cart.
You don’t need to spend money to make money. Simply convert your expertise into a marketable product. Brush up on your copywriting skills then post it.
Have a look at one of my threads

7,961 views as of 5/2/08. 296 replies. Most of them paid the $19 for content they loved.
You can do the same. It’s easy. It’s fun. It’s empowering.
Go for it!

DP forums is well known to me, and it has never occurred what an effective sales space it could be for some serious material. there are some laughably cheap seo and copywriting services going, also some very antique ideas being peddled. Will give some serious thought to some stuff aimed at DP, as an experiment.

Yes, there’s ebay. But your market there is very diffused.
At DP, you have people rabid for specific SEO/online skills- and if you have those skills, you can quickly monetize.
After I spent $$$$$$ on numerous $5 to $50 ebooks at DP, I discovered how this marketplace can make you more cash than being an affiliate marketer for clickbak- or a regular ebayer.
My one hint: don’t sell trash. Your rep will suffer and no one will purchase from you in the future. Give em superb quality and before you know it, you’ll be a star vendor.
I made sure that what I sold delivers on its promise- so much so that people who bought from me even reported to the mods some miscreants who started pirating my stuff.

You are an inspiration…. I spent 10 years as a graphic designer and have been thinking that I need to start teaching people about graphics in a nice easy user friendly way.

Then go for it. Today.
The only thing you should procrastinate on is procrastination.
