Adding CommentLuv Plugin And How To Tweak Feedburner For Better Backlinks

The new theme is working brilliantly and I’m very happy with it. All I’ve got left is a few small tweaks and bugs to iron out, which aren’t urgent and I’ll do them gradually. I’m still glowing with pride that I’ve customized this theme myself, rather than paying a designer to build one from scratch.

I have added some new functionality to the site, and thanks to Zath telling me about the CommentLuv WordPress plugin, I have just added it to my site. CommentLuv encourages readers to leave more comments by rewarding them by automatically adding a link to their latest post below their comment.

This is a great idea for a number of reasons:

  1. If the post has a punchy title and the comment is left on a popular post or blog, then it will get traffic
  2. The link automatically updates with the latest post, so it just keeps on giving
  3. The link points to a post rather than a blog homepage, so it could give vital deeplinks
  4. If the blog has removed nofollow from links, then readers will get a double benefit

Unfortunately CommentLuv only captures comments left after it has been activated. If you have a blog then try leaving a new comment on any post on the blog and you will see how it works.

Because the CommentLuv plugin grabs the latest blog post from your Feedburner feed, you may need to make a change to your feedburner settings to get the full benefit. This is because feedburner uses redirects, so the actual link will be passing on the link love to Feedburner, who then redirect the link to you. Making the tweak below discovered by Martin will also ensure that you get the maximum benefit from any external links featuring your feed:

  • Login to your account and choose the feed you want to edit
  • Click on ‘Analyse‘ and then under ‘Site Stats‘ in the sidebar click on ‘dare to be different?’
  • Uncheck ‘Item Link Clicks‘ and then save

    It seems like it depends on the topic that your blog is on. I use the plugin on all my sites but it only seems like a couple get a lot of spam. I am not sure what is causing it other than the topic that I am posting on. All in all I like the plugin, I get a lot more comments then I ever had so I give it two thumbs up.

    Keyword love along with comment luv r a wonderful options to add to your blog. It gives readers incentive to add relevant comments by being rewarded with a backlink.gives users motivation to post comments. Yet, content is very important to keep them coming back. In my opinion keywordluv is especially interesting as a tool to draw attention to a relatively new blog.Also noting to someone who commented. Nofollow Blogs are still useful as they still count as a link. They also genarate traffic.comment luv is also not less fasccinating

  • CommentLuv is a great asset. It gives incentive to people to rapidly communicate with each other through comments and wordpress provides the software to also block spam at the same time, so altogether it is a great advancement.
