May 2008: WordPress Plugins Used On This Site

Zath asked me last night to do an update on the WordPress plugins I’m currently using on this site. I like doing these posts every month or so as it allows me to share my discoveries with readers, and because the comments always tend to throw up one or two new plugins I want to give a try.

The full list created by Viper’s Plugins Used by Viper007Bond is listed below, , but here are the WordPress Plugins I’ve installed over the last month:

  • Shutter Reloaded v2.1 by Andrew Ozz : This was a very important addition. when investigating my server performance, we discovered that Lightbox based plugins were very server intensive and that lightbox was accounting for 1/2 my page load time alone!!! Shutter Reloaded is a lot more efficient, and has some handy options to boot
  • Admin Big Width v1.0 by XoraX : enlarge your wordpress administration so that it takes advantage of bigger monitors/resolutions
  • Bad Behavior v2.0.15 by Michael Hampton : Deny automated spambots access to your PHP-based Web site. I added this as part of my site optimisation as although hardly any spam makes it through onto the site, the number of spam attempts was impacting my server
  • Comment Quicktags + v1.1 by Dan Cameron : Inserts a quicktag toolbar on the blog comment form. It took me ages to find one that worked
  • Commentluv v1.92 by Andy Bailey : Adds live links to commentators blog posts automatically to encourage comments. I’m really enjoying this plugin as it’s making me visit readers’ sites more often
  • Samsarin PHP Widget v1.3.2 by Chris Pettitt : Allow PHP to be added to WordPress Widgets
  • WP AJAX Edit Comments : Allows you and your users to edit their comments inline. Admin and editors can edit all comments.

Here’s the other plugins I’m using currently on the site:
