Use Elevator To Disable Vista UAC On Selected Programs

Over the last year or so I’ve come to accept Vista’s UAC (User Account Control) as a necessary evil which provides important security.  However I have certain programs I use all the time where I don’t want to have to click ‘Allow’ on the UAC prompt every-time I run them.

I’ve searched a few times in the past for a way to disable Vista’s UAC prompts just for certain programs without much joy, but now I’ve finally found one.   Elevator allows you to disable Vista’s UAC permanently on a program by program basis.

Using Elevator is easy.  All you have to do once it is installed is to right-click the program you want to remove the UAC prompt and select ‘Elevate me’ from the context menu.  Once you’ve done this, the next time you run the program you won’t receive a UAC prompt.

Nice find.  UAC has to be one of the more annoying things about Vista, but I’ve been too chicken to disable it.  Elevator is a nice compromise.
