I grew up in Nottingham so I’ve always been a big fan of Alton Towers, which was just ‘down the road’. For those of you who don’t know what Alton Towers is, it’s the biggest and best theme park in the UK by miles, with over 2.5m visitors every year.
Alton Towers have just gone up even further in my estimation by banning CrackBlackerries, PDAs and smartphones and any parent seen using one will have it confiscated by Alton Towers staff.
Russell Barnes, a director of the Staffordshire attraction, said: “It’s important for parents and kids to focus on nothing more than having the best possible time.”
Some may accuse this of being a PR stunt, but even if it is I think it’s a great move as too many parents are neglecting their kids because of their addiction to email. Hopefully fewer parents will get ‘fired’ as a result!
