Great post! I'm just starting out in community management/marketing media and trying to discover how to do it nicely - resources like this article are incredibly helpful. As our company is based in the US, it?s all a little bit new to us. The example above is something that I worry about as nicely, how to show your personal genuine enthusiasm and share the truth that your item is useful in that case.

Thankfully (or sadly, depending on your point of view) my site doesn't command sufficient traffic to justify a dedicated server just yet. A few clients do, however, and I can say without any hesitation that unless you really, REALLY know your Unix - and I thought I did once upon a time - go for managed every time.

Can anyone recommend a good company to go with for a dedicated server? I started using T2000 about 3 weeks ago for generating free traffic to my site and i've noticed that my current hosting is not able to handle the load.

[shameless plug] but if you don't know about T2000, I highly recommend you look into it. It's simple, FREE and works. You can read about it here:
www.eastonpresslibrary.com/free-traffic-trades

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Since I have a lot of niche websites I moved on to a dedicated sever. It's less expensive than having all these domains on shared hosting accounts.

We have always had our own servers, even when we had no clients. The cost difference other then the hardware is minimal. When you have your own server you land up learning a new skill.

A dedicated server is not neccessary unless 1. you have a large gaming site....where there are multiple users querying the server simultaneously all day long...2. you are trying to promote a site or 3. you are promoting a site and have huge bandwith expenditures....just some of my thoughts on this

It's easy to transfer sites over. The benefits for me of being on a dedicated server, is I can find out why my sites may be running slow e.g. database, plugin, spam issues etc. On a VPS I didn't have the necessary access, and every 6 months or so I get an expert to check everything is ok, over and above the work my host does for me. For me, it's been well worth paying that little bit extra for peace of mind, particularly as I only need to avoid 1 outage a month to cover the additional cost.

I've been wondering about this as I start to create Niche sites. I guess it's not too hard to transfer oer, once the site is running.

Thanks for the info.... sorry you don't get much time to blog anymore :(
