All this twitter and plurk stuff goes straight over my head. I can’t understand how one or two lines of random information is interesting.

I also have Pownce. what pownce actually brings on the table is not to compete against Twitter but to compliment it. As one of the co owner has said; pownce is for sharing “legal” files to your friends. and by the way, pownce creator and owner also uses Twitter. hehe..

You might want to try pownce air (adobe air based app)

I haven’t tried Plurk though.. maybe thats next..

I am a twitter member but, I am rethinking my need to micro blog. I think that a better use of my time would be to walk along the river or sit under a tree.

I just signed up fro plurk the other day, and it is going to take a little getting used to. That’s not going tp be their problem though. It’s gaining enough traction as the second girl to the party to unseat twitter. That names not helping either. What exactly is a “plurk”?

Both these services need work. Twitter is down half the time and Plurk is worse than those Facebook apps annoying you.

Plurk is interesting but as with all of these services, it’s the userbase that matters. No point going to an alternative if none of your friends are on it as well.

Incidentally over at TechDigest they were evangelising about Twiddict, which will take your Tweets and if Twitter is down, save them and wait till it’s back up again. Might be handy for some.

I would recommend Plurk. Pownce has also been giving problems of virus. You might like to visit Marketing Pilgrim’s latest blog to get a better idea!

Always glad when a great blogger decides to help these services see the light of day. I love all three services: Twitter, Pownce, AND Plurk, and it’s a shame that as a result I spend 33% of my available time on each one as opposed to focusing 100% of my efforts on one great service. One group needs to buy out the other two, or something, because enough is enough!

I’m on all three but rely on Pownce the most. For me it is more about longer conversations and that serves my needs. I only Tweet a few times a week at most. Plurk is amusing. I was captivated by, and wrote about, the way usership skyrocketed after Leo Laporte started sending out invites. They may not have launched at an event, but this was a pretty sharp upturn as well.
So far I prefer Plurk to Twitter, because the threads are easy to follow, but some of it may also be the novelty. It will be interesting to see where it stands 6 months from now.

plurk isn’t really like twitter at all.

it’s more like IM, IRC and twitter rolled into one.

sounds like it might lose focus, but really it doesn’t.

twitter = statuses
plurk = micro-conversations

they’re trying to do substantially different things.

Pownce has problem with encoding in other languages. Greek bloggers support Plurk as twitter alternative

I have used Plurk and there is huge similarity in fuctionallity amongst plurk and twiter. Twiter has gained enormous publicity and I think people would rather stick with it and I don’t see huge amount of people switching from twiter to plurk.

However, changing trends or habits of people could never too exactly predicted I guess.
