Feedback: Microsoft and Yahoo, Round 2

Back in February I talked about Microsoft’s attempt to absorb Yahoo. Ultimately the deal with Yahoo fell through, Yahoo rejecting the $33/share a price that Microsoft was putting on the table.

Since February, Yahoo’s share price is down a staggering 35%; down 20% just in the last 30 days. It sits at just above $22/share as I type this, $11/share below the deal they could have made with Microsoft.

Everyone involved is playing their cards close to their vest right now. Rumors are flying that with investors in an uproar Yahoo wants a deal. Microsoft isn’t talking. Rumors of a reorganization at Yahoo that may see positions eliminated have been whispered. Everyone is speculating.

Is Yahoo going to end up with a deal that makes everyone there happy, or is Microsoft going to wait until Yahoo’s position becomes even weaker than it has? Are they laughing over at Google?

How do you think this will play out when the dust settles?

I think that if Yahoo focuses on ONE goal and stops changing directions every three months or so, it’ll do fine.

Would rather have Microsoft buy Yahoo! and hopefully put up meaningful competition to Google, than Google absorbing the second biggest player in the search engine market, and having an almost complete monopoly!

I agree PPC, its too much power for Yahoo to be owned by Google.
