Split YouTube Videos into Smaller Sections with TubeChop

Cutting a video into a desired clip can be a very ardous and time-consuming process. In most cases, you need to install special software on your computer. Then you have to load your file, select from a variety of options and hope that things turn out okay.

If the clip you want to trim happens to be a YouTube Video, then an easy way to do so is to use TubeChop. As its name implies, this is a site that lets you chop or cut YouTube videos. You can cut just about any video using a simple three step process.

In the first step, you select the video you want to trim. If you do not already have the url handy, no problem. You can search for the video in TubeChop itself. Once you select the video, click the ‘Chop’ button under it. You can select the clip you want by dragging the two black sliders that appear under the video to set the desired start and end times.

If you are satisfied with your selection, sit back and let TubeChop work its magic. Your chopped video will now appear with its very own link. You even get an embed code so you can share the video on your blog or website.

TubeChop is easy to use and quite helpful. As an added bonus, you do not have to go through any registration process to use the site. And best of all, it’s web-based so it saves you the hassle of installing software on your computer. The only downside is that it works only with YouTube presently. I’d like to see them expand to other sites and maybe even allow users to upload their own videos to chop.

What do you think of TubeChop? Do you know of any other similar services? What do you normally use to trim videos? Let me know.

Note for Everton:

I’d like to invite Cheryl to the Connected Internet Team! Cheryl also guest blogs over at Ghacks.   She’s a zoologist who loves technology almost as much as animals. Besides her passion for animals, she’s also crazy about football (soccer, for you North American folks) and her favorite team is Arsenal (boooo!!!). She’s loved sports since the time she was a kid and in addition to playing right through college, has also closely followed lots of international sports.

When she’s not playing, she likes nothing better than curling up with some music and a good book, preferably something spine tingling.  She’s looking forward to blogging at Connected Internet since this was one of the first tech blogs that she found and she checks it out  everyday.

While she will be writing about virtually anything that catches her fancy, most of her posts will revolve around the multimedia sphere since that’s what she excels at.  I look forward to you giving her your views on software tools as well enjoying her tips to make your multimedia tasks better.
