How To Get Free High PR Links

Many professional SEOs don’t give a damn about PR anymore, but that still leaves a big chunk of the web community pining for higher PR. Here’s a tried and tested way to get solid PR backlinks without having to pay for it. You’ll obtain:

  • a backlink on a highly ranked page
  • using your anchor text
  • in just a minute of your time

Ready to start? Great!

  1. First, grab a copy of Mozilla Firefox. Install the plugins which help you view ranking factors in real time (PR, Alexa, backlinks, etc). My favorite is SEOQuake . An alternative would be SEO For Firefox .Keep them activated and you’ll see webstats for every site you visit. Just don’t run them while doing shadey SEO or the engines may keep tabs on your activity.
  2. Start searching for forums that use PhpBB or vBulletin Forums. Choose a heavyweight forum from the list that comes up. Examples would be digitalpoint, sitepoint or warriorforum. Initiate a site: search on the forum. Eventually you’ll find internal threads with PR5 onwards- SEOQuake will inform you which is which. DigitalPoint in particular carries old threads, some of which are just a page long and boast a PR5-PR7.
  3. Sign up for the forum and go straight to the internal thread with at least PR5. Leave a relevant post in the thread. This is a critical step. Leaving trash like “Nice thread” or “Great idea, I’ll try that” will get you castrated by the moderator. Contribute , contribute contribute!
  4. Repeat steps 2 to 3 on as many other forums as you can. Keep tabs on your forum details.
  5. Wait a week then sign back on and edit your posts by adding your links to each post. Woah! Now you have backlinks to your sites with chosen anchor text! Don’t add the links on the first time you make the posts. Chances are someone would notice and flag your account.
  6. Wait till your PR rises. Give it 3 months for an update. On experience, it takes 5 PR backlinks from different domains with no other outgoing links to raise a PR0 site to PR4.

Ready to revive the PR insanity?

  • The thing that make back links so easy.
    Thanks for the list.
    Waiting more from you.Good luck
    in the new year.
  • Nice work thanks. Happy Holidays.
  • There are many other ways to achieve high PR links, I do not think that DP would be the best place to throw ones SEO related links, considering Googles eyes lie heavily on that particular forum. This goes for a lot of other big SEO forums as well.
  • I think its good to get high PR links, but it works best when the links are from industry related sites, that have the same target market, and the when the links are do-follow. At the end of the day though, your site does best when its content is the most relevant to the query. Many pr2 sites outrank pr5 sites for the same keyphrase, purely because of relevancy.
  • thanks for the tips i basically do this anyway but your further insight is helpful
one thing I have found is that if you link to a particular page on your website from another site with relevant subject matter your pr does well and the traffic is happy because if they click the link they get targeted info which is the very reason we use the internet

  • I'd not thought of editing a post some time after posting it!

Another thing is that while many forums don't allow you to have a DoFollow signature, your profile page is sometimes visible to the search engines and your signature can be DoFollow there, plus some allow you to write a bio with links in. So you can get some links in there and put some useful posts in the forum without needing to worry about DoFollow links in them.
  • I gave this a try but it wouldn't let me add my link in when I edited the post.
Seem's digitalpoint stop you from doing this.
    Thanks for the tips though.
  • Great theory but the idea is a failure since it will never work. The forum post that boast high PR are usually the first pages of the thread and your comments will be posted on the last page of the thread which has a PR of 0 100% of the time.  Don't waste your time trying to look for high PR forum post as you will never be able to post your comment on those particular pages.
  • It appears Digital Point lost all of it's pagerank on internal pages. I couldn't find any old pages that weren't "n/a."
There are a few "dopes" in the forums suggesting there is a toolbar update going on, so perhaps this is why. Their homepage (DP) was a PR6 and I could of sworn it was a 7 or 8 before wasn't it?
  • Nice work thanks.
