While I enjoy receiving gifts, it’s vexing to pile up on unwanted ties and hideous socks.
From online magazine publications, I discovered that Britons spent over a hundred million pounds on undesirable Christmas gifts. Imagine all the landfills stuffed with ugly ties, broken toys, monstrous hats, and crappy parasols? Not to mention non-biodegradable ribbons and wrappings? Who thought that giving folks a present can be lethal to Mother Earth!
It’s a good things some people are concerned. Boxuped, an online social shopping community, urges shoppers to be conscientious of the environment when splurging Christmas gifts for their loved ones. They understand that the wasted gift isn’t innocuous. It does a great deal of harm!
I heartily agree with the call to saving the planet by eliminating unwanted presents; and so you can imagine how pleased I was when www.christmasuncrapped.com launched a campaign which encouraged happy shoppers to cut wastes on unwanted Christmas gifts by jotting the gifts that they really want. Think of it like a bridal registry service- only for Christmas
Chris Osborne CEO of boxedup asserts in a news report: “Unwanted presents are as much a part of Christmas as turkey and mince pies. Unwanted lotions, useless toys and unusable gadgets generally top the list to cause widespread disappointment and only end up being stuffed in a drawer and forgotten about! The holiday season is traditionally fraught with waste packaging, wrapping papers, extra energy consumption, all of which, will have a damaging impact on the environment this year. Many of us are becoming more eco-savvy, so why not be more eco-savvy and give a great gift at the same time?”
He’s definitely the man GreenPeace would love as an image model!
