It’s been a long time since I added a new plugin to the site. I try to avoid adding the latest shiny plugins so that my server isn’t put under any undue strain. I’ve made an exception for two new plugins.
The first one is Clean Notifications Plugin which I discovered via One Tip A Day. This great little plugin tidies up the mess that WordPress makes of email notifications. Check out the diagram below which best summarises the impact of the plugin:

The second plugin I’ve installed is the NextGEN Gallery WordPress plugin. I’ve been searching for a while for a good gallery plugin mainly for my Windows 7 News which generates a lot of traffic from various screenshot pages. I wanted to find something that would make it easier for uses to view images in each gallery. To see the plugin in action check out the Windows 7 Screenshots page.
The plugin has been a resounding success and increasing the number of gallery views has made a significant impact on page impressions and has taken the traffic for Windows 7 News past the fantastic 1m page views per month landmark in just a matter of days.
The final plugin I’ve added to the site isn’t a new one, but an upgrade. The excellent Yet Another Related Posts Plugin has a new beta version available that introduces caching. Adding this new beta version has made a noticeable difference to page loading speeds, as well as adding a few new options.
Have you added any good plugins recently that you’d like to recommend to other readers?
