Windows 7 Tweaks

Over on Windows 7 News that I run jointly with Martin from gHacks, we’ve just published our first post with Windows 7 tweaks. These are pretty safe tweaks if you want to give them a go and if you are running any Windows 7 build.

Overall the site is doing very well, with 30k page views per day and another 10k page views per day in the Windows 7 Forum. Most of the traffic is thanks to Google, where we are #4 for ‘Windows 7′ behind 2 Microsoft links and Wikipedia, and #1 for ‘Windows 7 Screenshots‘ and ‘Windows 7 News’. Hopefully we will be able to maintain these rankings right up and to and after launch.

I’m glad the site is doing so well, and having a focused site topic has definitely worked as well as having a great partner in Martin. If you’re thinking about starting a 2nd or 3rd site I’d definitely recommend finding a good person to work with, as the site will grow a lot faster from your combined efforts.

  • well done on being 4th for windows 7!

That's the best possible rank you can get, after the paid first spots isn't it? (wikipedia, microsoft, google news)

But what will you do in August (I think when the BETA ends) between the long gap until it's released?
  • we're fourth in the natural results. Beating Microsoft would take some doing (!!) although we are trying to take on Wikipedia.

When the beta ends we will continue posting Windows 7 news, tips, hacks, software & hardware reviews etc.  This is when we are hoping the site & forum will show their true potential, which could be huge.  We're definitely well placed at the moment
