A Kick For Your Car

Last week, I shared how installing a magnet on your oil filter increased filtration and lubrication. That translates to better mileage because less sludge in the ole crankcase means lower friction. Get the friction out and energy that’s normally lost in grinding goes straight to the power train. Now how’d you like to tune up the fuel system?

I shudder the price of gasoline. In order to cut on gas costs, I’ve purchased all manner of fuelgastank A Kick For Your Car saving gadgets like the air vortexer, fuel preheater and intake equalizer. Most of these gadgets yielded marginal gains. Yet they cost an arm and a neck. It’s still far more effective to simply keep the engine clean with regular oil changes and brand new plugs.

In the quest to find a really cheap means to lower fuel cost I did find one solution that not only cuts consumption, it actually costs less than a dollar and adds a kick to the rubber. The secret is in acetone.

Yep. Acetone. That humble chemical that women use to strip the polish off their toes. Acetone, you see, is a clean fuel. Far cleaner than gasoline or kerosene. Light it up and you get a clean blue flame. That’s unlike kerosene or diesel. Set it on fire and you get a dirty smudgy flame.

Boosting your car with acetone is simple. Simply mix 88ml of it with every full tank of 50liters. That’s the ideal ratio, according to the techeads at Honda Club. What it does is to boost the octane by several percentage points. This translates to higher power for the same volume of gas. That leads to you stepping on the pedal less for the same amount of work.

I’ve tested this tweak over a year and love the seat-0f-the-pants kick. Plus, mileage has improved. Combine it with the oil filter trick and you can truly chuckle with a sneer at the oil companies.
