Install Windows 7 From A USB Drive

Just before Christmas LG sent me a lovely X110 notebook that has become my main netbook/notebook as my girlfriend has taken ownership of my Acer laptop and my other laptop is being used as a media center in our bedroom.

lg-x110The only thing that annoyed me about the LG was that it came shipped with Windows XP Home and because it didn’t have a DVD Drive I couldn’t upgrade it to Vista. After some researching, I’ve found a way to install windows 7 using a USB key, which worked perfectly.

I’m amazed how well Windows 7 is working on the LG, as although it’s not the least powered machine in the world, it’s definitely not the swiftest. However, Windows 7 is very fast on the LG and I haven’t had to turn off any features. If you have an old machine out there that you didn’t want to risk Vista on, I’d definitely try windows 7 on it as the min spec for Windows 7 is very low, and it will run faster on older machines than even XP.
