I love the web. It’s one great resource with almost everything. And much of the information is
free. Well, almost.
The vast majority of sites offer access at no cost, but a few require registration. That can be a hassle. Give your email addy and next thing you know, spam starts traipsing in. Worse can happen too. Some sites require “age verification” for a mere $1.00. It looks small, but there are spoof sites that get their foot in the door this way. Next thing you know, there are sudden charges amounting to the hundreds.
I discovered a few solutions that help mitigate the registration problem. To protect your identity, you can use disposable email, such as that provided by mailinator.com . This is one cool service that doesn’t even require you to create an account! The next time you log on at a website demanding an email addy, simply supply an address in the format xxx@mailinator.com. Fill in your details. Proceed to mailinator.com then log in using xxx@mailinator.com. Presto, you got mail! It doesn’t matter if they spam that address to death. You never have to use it again.
Now what about the problem of $1 to $20 registrations? This is common with those “adult services” or gaming sites. No sweat. Simply use someone else’s registration! Over at bugmenot.com, you’ll find users uploading their accounts that may have some time left. It’s easy to find the required credentials. Merely input the website demanding an account into bugmenot’s search box. A list of accounts and user detals spring up- complete with user ratings as to the viability of the information.
