Windows 7 Release Candidate On May 5th?

Microsoft added download links for the Windows 7 Release Candidate over the weekend stating that the Windows 7 Release Candidate would be available for download on May 5th, only to remove the links te following day. I’m fairly sure that the original May 5th date was correct, particularly as there are rumours that some OEM partners such as Dell are already testing the release candidate.

Windows 7 is shaping up to be a very special release for Microsoft. On my Windows 7 News site, even some die-hard mac and linux fanboys have grudgingly stated that it’s a very good product. I’m currently running it on my least powerful machine that could hardly run XP (LG X110 netbook) and it’s performing very well, so I have to agree. I can’t wait to put it onto my main machine, particularly my media centers.

Are you running Windows 7? If you’re not, I really recommend that you give it a go as I think you’ll be impressed. If you do run into problems then check out the Windows 7 Forum for help with nearly 3,000 members.
