How to Run Multiple Google Talk Accounts

View Comments May 2, 2009 | MoiN

Running multiple google talk accounts seems a bit difficult but believe me, it’s a piece of cake. Yes, I have 2 gmail accounts, one for work and other for family and friends. Now I have added people in both accounts and to check whose online and stuff, I used to logout and login the other once. But I’ve confronted a small trick which lets you run multiple google talk accounts at once.

Here’s what you should do. Download Google Talk (If you haven’t), run the setup and it will install the messenger in a minute or less. Create a shortcut on your desktop if it doesn’t automatically.

Right click on Gtalk Shortcut and you’ll see a window like this:

Google Talk

See the line at the end, /startmenu ? remove it and replace it with -nomutex – It will look like \GoogleTalk\googletalk.com -nomutex – Click Apply / Ok.

You can now run multiple google talk accounts by running Gtalk from that shortcut.

Gtalk

I hope this helps.

  1. Wow. That is pretty easy. Screen shots always make it a little easier.

That’s awesome, Do you have often find yourself though.. getting the “account locked out” message? I leave my Google Talk on pretty much 24/7, but i often find that i get locked out of it.. and have to hit the signon again and type the captcha letters :(

    Till then,

    Jean
