must say im sorry to those that the tweak for win7 to use all available processor core’s in my experience does work.. ok it dosent make my laptop boot in like 5 seconds or anything but ive noticed an improvement for sure.. same as all these tweaks, disabling services, and startup programs etc, its not a massive difference but it does lighten the load and help to make things a bit more responsive and snappier

hell if you want serious preformance power, go out and spend mega bucks on the fastest quad core on the market with the fastest ram, and the best motherboard and a water coolent system, then over clock the system and run it of a hardware striped volume raid… then look for oil or do physics with it… not just check how smooth crysis will run a full settings lol

id say these tweaks suit the more experienced user thats happy to play around in windows where other users are usualy to scared to tread.. if a tweak works then great! if not either reverse it or fix it but dont moan about wrecking your system if your not sure about what your doing would you stick your head in a fire if the man told you too?

to make your windows 7 faster there is only one way….been an original and up to date copy, and only with microsoft tweaks.Guys plesae dont be fools to do wath this man tell u to…. like putting maximun memory and all processors on boot up. If u supid enought to do entering safe mode u can undone this… Buy an original copy

I tried the boot improvement and have noticed a dramatic increase in web browsing speed from a download average of 3M on speedtest.net I now get on avaerage 9M and streaming video has been greatly improved

sorry but i have to say that was an idiodic solution. you messed up the operating system, so why couldn’t you just reinstall the operating system? im really for being so rude, but im just kinda ..shocked. next time, just hit ‘f12′ on bios- the first loading screen, pop in a cd, and use the arrow keys to select boot from cd/dvd and hit enter, it should be fairly straight forward from there. if that didnt work, then im sorry, or if u didnt have a dvd, sorry! but next time, think things through and get another cd or dvd maybe instead if that was the case.

oh and fyi people, yes this tweak DOES work for some reason, so if you were stupid enough to play with your operating system boot options, and you messed it up, then its only your fault.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

most of these really don't speed up at all. personally if you want a faster windows seven there are other options i also would like to comment that disabling aero really makes no difference unless you are running a really old graphics card, and still its not like its going to speed up anything, i have tried the disabling of aero and there is no difference. if you are looking to speed up your computer i have seen results with my gaming using Cleamem, other than that get a better cpu, or a better graphics card in this instance

I think it looks like a free application to tweak your windows having a built in tweak option from the OS itself but I'd say I haven't used the OS I'm quite used to xp so I don't have the time switching with another one.

Kalkstein, Use Smart Defrag, just google it. Always do a Deep Optimize then Defrag again. It doesn’t only defrag, it rearranges ALL your software to easily accessible places by the head on your hard drive.

Ubuntu (GNOME) is extremely fast if you install Ubuntu, then Xfce-desktop (Xubuntu). If you are new to installing stuff in Ubuntu, go to Application> Accessories>Terminal and type in “sudo apt-get install” then the name of your program. Install gnome-panel, which xfce4-panel replaces, and gnome-session-daemon which xfce-session manager replaces. Result is Xfce speed with Gnome features.
Credits to gnoshme.com for that.

GNOME/Xfce has that super-Mac feel, with amazing speed, but it is a little hard to get used to if you are a non-Mac user. Great for people that want speed or have old computers.
KDE is pretty fast with a super-Windows feel, but is very hard to get use to for a non-windows user, even then, it is kinda hard to get used to. Good for those people with 64bit computers with 3+ GBs of RAM.

How you can say disabling visual effects makes no difference means you obviously don’t know how a computer works.Disabling visual effects will always speed up things unless your computer/card is so old it doesn’t support the effects in the first place.

From what I’ve seen, Windows 7 tweaks itself. Speaking from someone who is running it on three machines, all around the 1.5 to 1.8 Ghz single core range in cpu power, one with 1 Gig of Ram, one with 756MB of RAM and another with a whopping 512MB of RAM!

Windows 7 will run on things Vista would never dream of running on. All the systems run pretty well with the occasional 5 to 10 second pause that would be expected on the 512MB box…but hey…that’s well below the minimum that Microsoft says it needs to run.
