Vodafone Introduces New Internet Services
According to the sources, the Vodafone group has announced that it will introduce a new Limo-based Operating System that will enable the users to access social networking websites and applications. The move certainly indicates that Vodafone wants to compete with the hugely popular Apple’s iPhone, Google’s Android Mobile OS and RIM’s Blackberry.
The new service which has been aptly named as Vodafone 360 will coordinate the consumer’s mobile and the messaging contacts with that of their details present in the social networking websites. This service will come into the market sometime in the month of December. One of the main services provided by Vodafone 360 is through its address book, through which the users can share their personal information with their friends. The Vodafone 360 hence has been aptly described as a brand new Internet service for mobile and PC which accumulates a customer’s friends, community, entertainment and personal favorites (like music, games, photos and videos) at one place.
This new service provided by the company directly puts Vodafone in competition with the operating system providers who are best known for ruling the mobile market. This new revelation from Vodafone indicates that the group now wants to delve into the world of mobile e-commerce. It was Apple who kick started the trend by setting up its hugely popular App store, which enables the customers to download a wide range of applications. Following Apple’s footsteps Google opened up a similar “application store” via its Android Operating system. Vodafone’s declaration regarding the launch of Vodafone 360 certainly indicates that the company wants to follow the footsteps of the aforementioned groups.
According to the company’s sources, the newly declared service will come into effect in eight different countries across Europe in the month of December.
