Netbook Round Up: 4 New Netbooks That Have Only Recently Seen Daylight

Netbooks are taking over – in a figurative way for now. In case you have been too busy with the Koi Pond on your iPhone, here’s a round up for you. Netbooks have been making appearances right and left. They are coming out in leaks, in announcements and even in the imaginations of the creative media types. Just look at the latest developments.

Toshiba Satellite T100

SatelliteT135 400x285 Netbook Round Up: 4 New Netbooks That Have Only Recently Seen DaylightAlthough they are not calling these ‘netbooks’ officially, they are nothing but. These are Toshiba’s ultra low voltage processor equipped portables with 11inch and 13inch displays.

Now if these are not netbooks, nothing are. If the ULV status does not give it away then the size definitely should. Even if Toshiba whole-heartedly believes that these are normal notebooks, just smaller, you simply cannot combine a low voltage processor with an 11inch screen to make a portable that is not a netbook.

So Toshiba has debuted their new line of netbooks called the Satellite T100 series and they will be released for sale on October 22nd this year. The two models are T115 (the 11inch model) and the T135 (the 13inch model). Both will have HD displays (impressive) and will run Windows 7 Home Premium. They will also have larger-than-average storage at 250GB (SATA 5400RPM).

These are not Atom-based machines and the T135 will have a choice between the Intel SU4100 or the SU2700 processor. Bluetooth will be built into both.

The T115 will start from $450 and the T135 will start from $600.

HP Pavillion dv3

hpsomething Netbook Round Up: 4 New Netbooks That Have Only Recently Seen DaylightEngadget has done it again! They have uncovered yet another leak in the world of gadgets yet to come. This time it is HP. Before getting into it, let’s remind ourselves – these leaks are happening at an alarming rate these days, aren’t they? Often at strategic points in the manufacturing process. Hmmm…

So this is the new HP DV3 laptop/netbook that may possibly be marketed as a netbook. At 13.3inches diagonal, this is the same size as the 13inch MacBook but it seems to be a cross between a netbook and a full-sized laptop. You know, we did not think we would use the term ‘full-sized’ with laptops when they were first introduced.

Anyway, so the special thing about this one is that it has a touchscreen! Yes, yet another non-tablet with a touchscreen. I do not see much use for it but I like the better graphics and larger storage.

Endgadget confirms that an 11.6inch CULV and an 18.6 model are are in the making. So a netbook is definitely in the pipeline.

Asus Eee PC 1001HA

If you think this looks exactly like the 1005HA, then you are not very far off. When the rumors first hit the Internet, everyone thought the same way. And now they are vindicated because Asus has just posted a manual on its website that is for the “1005/1001 series”.

According to a product page from the Chinese version of its site, the 1001HA is basically a 10.1inch version of the 1005HA with some cosmetic differences. But over all they look the same and are bound be the same except the size. No one seems to know about the battery. [Liliputing]

iPhone Netbook [Caution: Not Real]

Okay, so this one’s not real. It is quite obvious. But when someone spends so much time and love making a video like this, you cannot ignore it. This one has been spreading around like the common cold on tech sites and has been sent to me multiple times. So here it is, a Transformers style video of an iPhone. Lets hope it does not come true.
