How to Search and Delete empty Folders from your Computer


Empty folders which serve no purpose bother me. These folders are most commonly the leftovers of uninstalling unwanted software. Finding them and deleting them one at a time can be quite a tedious task. For this purpose, the developers over at Listening PC present Fast Empty Folder Finder.

Clicking on the ‘Download Installer’ button downloads the setup file which is only 345 KB in size. After the simplistic installation, the main program can be run.

Clicking on the ‘Browse for Folder’ enables us to browse over to the directory where we want to run a search for empty folders. Once a search is conducted, the empty folders are displayed, along with the option of deleting them. As a sample, I made a ‘New Folder’ on my desktop, and the two more within each other, within the desktop ‘New Folder.’

This is what clicking on the ‘Browse for Folder’ button shows us:

After selecting our desired path and clicking ‘OK,’ the ‘Search Now!’ option at the top will be enabled and can be clicked. In this case, these were the results:

I checked the checkbox and clicked on ‘Delete Checked Folders’ to get rid of my newly created empty ‘New Folder.’

Although on the surface it seems to work fine, it occasionally fails when trying to access system files. The following error is not uncommon:

I hope the developers of Fast Empty Folder Finder fix this bug. Meanwhile, the freeware can be easily exercised upon user files and custom created folders.
