This move will mark the company’s first venture in the cellphone arena.

Dell’s possible launch of the Android powered smart-phones will mark the company as the latest manufacturing company to try their hands in a vastly expanded and competitive market which is still dominated by Apple and RIM (Research In Motion). Although Dell and Google have refused to comment over its plans, the inside sources reveal that with this move Dell will finally put an end to its prolonged dream of making an impression in the cellphone arena. Wall Street Journal, the newspaper which confirmed the report on Wednesday also stated that the phones could be launched as early as in the year 2010. An inside source quite close to the multinational PC manufacturing company reported that Dell plans to launch its “oPhone” for China.

According to the market analysts, if Dell launches the smart-phone at all then it will be facing a stiff competition in a market which is already dominated by Apple and Research in Motion. Sources reveal that market rivals of Dell i.e. Acer and Asutek are also planning to introduce smart-phones.

On the other hand the Wall Street Journal also revealed that Dell’s Android phone for AT&T will comprise of a touch screen display accompanied with a megapixel camera.
