Google Squared Revolutionizing Search Engine Technology

Try visualizing the perfect search engine. What do you see? Does your ideal search engine provide you with the most relevant search results from a number of websites? Mine does too. But that is as far as my imagination stretches the ideal search engine. Who could have thought that the geniuses over at Google were working beyond the scope of our imaginations?

This summer, Google launched Google Squared which does not only give you the most relevant search results, but also checks the authenticity of the results.

The efficiency of Square needs to be experienced firsthand.

Suppose you were working on a project which required you to collect information about numerous talk show hosts. You go ahead and enter ‘talk show hosts’ in the search bar, Square takes about three seconds to build a ‘Square’ and here are how the results are presented:

The names of various talks show hosts along with short descriptions of them (from reliable sources) are presented in a table. This makes gathering important information amazingly convenient.

What Square does is, filter out the good results from the bad, and then further filter the good ones from the best ones.

A user can even proceed to makes tables/charts/diagrams out of these results. This can be done by exporting the results from the Square to Google Spreadsheet and making table there.

Square is still being refined and developed and faces significant challenges on multiple levels. Checking the reliability of sources alone is a slow and lengthy process. The labs at Google are constantly working to polish Square.

Like all its other ventures, Google has brought unprecedented convenience to internet users; this time it is in the form of Square, a breakthrough in search engine technology.
