WOT, Web of Trust, is an add-on for Mozilla Firefox that protects the internet user by warning them about risky websites which try to scam visitors, deliver malware or send spam.
The add-on is very similar to Internet Explorer’s phishing filter; however WOT performs a much better job. The newly updated version of WOT comes in response to the recent phishing scam that hit major internet businesses.
WOT is an absolute layer of protection necessary for Firefox users who otherwise might fall victim to phishing websites.
So far, WOT had only been available to Internet Explorer and Firefox users as an add-on. However, for Google Chrome users the good news was recently announced: a beta WOT add-on has been released; Chrome users should get their hands on it as soon as possible.
One slight difference in WOT operating on Chrome is that the WOT icon is seen in the lower left of the Chrome browser. Chrome users can test the add-on and send their feedback to WOT, who are welcoming the suggestions.
