A Revolutionary Yet Simple Search Engine

View Comments October 19, 2009 | MoiN

Research is going on all over the world to revolutionize the way internet search engines work. Usual focus in these revolutionary changes being worked upon is to streamline the search results towards a single, most relevant focal point. However, today we explore a search engine that rather than focusing on something specific, gives the user an amazing list of results which are not expected, yet relevant.

This search engine is Spezify.

The homepage of Spezify is uniquely simple. All it really contains is a search field. The straightforwardness pleasantly surprised me, as I am sure it will surprise all users.

I took out Spezify for a test drive and searched for ‘Aeroplanes.’ I was expecting the same Google/Yahoo-like search results with my resultant page filled with blue links. However the search output of Spezify was unlike anything I could think of:

The search results include all sort of unexpected sources. For instance, a video link from Youtube, the homepage of the Boeing company, a link for the band The Blue Aeroplanes, an article somehow linking lightning with airplanes, and countless other sources.

The results are presented in an unprecedented fashion. They appear to be collaged together as a picture. You can click on any portion to be taken to that result, or you can click, hold, and drag the results’ page to view the other results. Here is a different portion of the ‘aeroplanes’ search results’ collage:

Spezify was created in Stockholm, Sweden. It is a wonderfully innovative search engine from which all users can gain a refreshing search experience.
