4e0ea59f7a GE Unveils Handheld Ultrasound DeviceAccording to the reports, at the Web 2.0 Summit, GE (General Electric) CEO, Jeff Immelt reportedly unveiled Vscan, an ultra-sound scanner thereby introducing the latest technology in the tech/gadget world. The seemingly white device which bears a striking resemblance with that of a cell phone, is of the same size as Blackberry.

The actual price of the ultra-sound scanner is yet to be revealed from the GE company’s side. Sources revealed that Vscan wont support Wi-Fi connectivity although it will be digitally capable. Billing it as the “stethoscope of the 21st century” , the low cost portable ultra-sound scanner. The device which bears a striking resemblance with that of a cell phone comprises of a small screen at one portion and the other side has been inculcated with a circular input pad.

GE has been best known for producing medical scanners which are a tad too costly, but with the revelation of Vscan, the cheap portable device, the company is all set to break age old reputation of theirs as a seller of multi-million dollar products. Sources revealed that Immelt produced a demo of Vscan in order to showcase the effectiveness of the device. The device itself is effective enough as it enables the doctor/caregiver to provide better treatment to the patients. Vscan reportedly combines the patient data with that of the clinical result data, thereby enhancing the treatment process.
