Sony is known for making avant-garde technological devices and computer hardware products. Its VAIO range of notebook PCs and all-in-one computers have earned popularity among the users who prefer gadgets they can flaunt. In a recent move that may cause concern among the VAIO PC users, the company has recalled a series of AC adapters meant for some series of VAIO docking stations and PCs.
The move was caused after it was found that some of these AC adapters could give electric shock to the users. In conjunction with the norms of U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Sony opted for the recall. In fact, Sony has got some reports that say that these adapters have caused short circuits over prolonged periods of usage.
Sony is going to recall the AC adapters supplied with VAIO PCs belonging to VGC-JS240, VGC-JS270, VGC-LT, VGC-JS290 and VGC-JS250 series. Apart from these Sony has also issued Recall orders for power adapters meant for VGP-PRFE1 and VGP-PRBX1 docking stations. It has been revealed by the company that the products that fall under this range were sold between the last quarter of 2005 and October of this year.
Sony has said that the VAIO owners who need to replace their AC adapters need not bother about cost as it will not charge them. A web site has been put up for the VAIO owners where they can check their model and know if they need replacement or not. Sony has also advised the consumers with faulty adapters to refrain from using those devices and keep the machine switched off until they get replacement.
