Software Updates
Apple has released Apple TV 3.0 software update and has updated the iTunes to 9.0.2 to help sync up with the new Apple TV software.
The latest Apple TV update adds a simpler and faster menu to Apple TV and adds features like iTunes LP/Extra content, Internet Radio, Genius Mixes and iTunes HD content. Still, critics are of the opinion that this is just a feeble attempt on Apple’s part to make the Apple TV market viable, which it is not.
As for the iTunes update, other than enabling smooth syncing capabilities with the new Apple TV software it also breaks the Palm Pre’s (hacked) iTunes sync. But that was pretty much expected.
Apple iPhone Closes In On Blackberry (Marketshare), Android Ahoy

Market analysts have said that the iPhone is fast catching up to the Backberry in terms of market share. The graph shows the iPhone rising steadily towards the top ever since it was launched. Both Blackberry and Palm are showing a negative growth in contrast. Palm was left far behind a long time back and now it seems like Blackberry will be bested as well.
As the iPhone continues upwards, it’s main competitor will be the Android and the Symbian OS that is used on the Nokia smartphones. But since the Symbian OS is more or less outdated by now, its days are numbered as well. It still remains as the top player because of the sheer number of Nokia devices that are still used worldwide.
Thus Android remains as the only true competitor of the iPhone. Both platforms are growing pretty steadily but their approaches are extremely different from each other. The iPhone continues to be a closed platform that Apple fully controls. On the other hand, Android has pretty much gone viral with every major handset maker making Android devices.
So over all, it is quite likely that Android takes over the market as the majority and the iPhone remains as a number two. Whatever it is, Apple’s tag as a niche product-maker is not going to go away all that easily.

Engineers and other employees of Apple flying around in jet planes do not usually count as exciting news. But in the current situation, it is actually causing a lot of speculations. That is because a sudden upsurge in China-bound Apple engineers has been noted. China is after all the place where Apple products are made, the place where all the main manufacturing plants are and the place where Foxconn is. Looks like the tablet production is about to begin. Foxconn is the company that handles a lot of Apple’s product manufacturing and it is rumored that they are the ones who have received a contract to roll out 300,000 Apple Tablet devices per month in the coming months. So yes, this is yet another tablet rumor. There is no getting out of it, you are going to hear more and more of these.
iPhone Finally Launched In China

Despite the many hurdles faced by it to accomplish this, Apple has finally launched the iPhone in China. The saddest part is that the iPhones that Unicom (the Chinese carrier) will be getting will have no WiFi. This is because the Chinese government had issued a ban on WiFi while it was promoting another alternative system. They did relax the ban afterwards but not before the WiFi-free Chinese iPhone models had gone into production. Unicom hopes that the missing feature will be covered in the next batch. [read]
