Each month, nearly a 100 million people from the U.S. visit MSN’s page; last year, MSN added over 10 million new customers. But MSN wouldn’t be where it is if it was being run by complacency. In a radical move, MSN have now announced that they’ll be dramatically improving the design of their homepage.

Various research polls have revealed that while users consider MSN-like pages to be highly valuable, they would prefer less clutter and easier access to the services they use most often. The new design was made keeping this and numerous other data collected by research surveys.
Addressing users’ views on clutter, the new sleek design has cut down on the total number of links by almost half. You also get a much simpler way to navigate through the site across sections ranging from news to sports and entertainment.
MSN also ensures that the news displayed won’t be anything people aren’t interested in. What matters will be shown and what doesn’t won’t.
A powerful search engine from Bing has now been merged with the homepage enabling the users to look for anything: news, freeware, anything not on the MSN homepage.
MSN has recognized how important social networking is for today’s internet user. Hence they’ve incorporated some features which provide you with easy access to Facebook, Twitter, Windows Live Services, and numerous other websites such as Yelp and Pandora. Amongst other things, you can now change the status of your social networking accounts right from the MSN page.
The new webpage design can be previewed here. Starting out from today, the new design will gradually start spreading out in the U.S. and be more widely available across the U.S. come beginning of next year.
Such a major step was unexpected from MSN, a website already doing all the right things. The redesign just goes about to show that MSN believes there’s always room for improvement and will continue to work towards progressing.
Good luck MSN!
