In a recent development Finnish mobile giant Nokia has announced its decision to recall millions of defective mobile chargers. The chargers may give shock to the users and Nokia is offering a free replacement program for the people who are using these chargers. Nokia has stated in its site that these series of chargers were made by a third party manufacturer of China and the defect was detected while a regular quality inspection was in progress. However, no user has been affected by these faulty chargers yet. The product recall will affect the consumers in USA, Canada and some other countries.
The affected chargers belong to the:
- AC-3U series

- AC-4U series
All these Nokia chargers were manufactured in 2009. To see if they are using defective and potentially hazardous chargers, users need to read the manufacturing information printed on the label on their chargers. The manufacturer can also be identified from the label. If a user finds out that he has a faulty charger he can visit the website put up by Nokia for charger exchange. After typing the identification number and model number, the user will be provided with instructions for replacement.
It is the second time that Nokia has got embroiled in a third party product supplier related issue. Earlier Nokia decided to recall some batteries made by Japan’s Matsushita Battery Industrial Co. Ltd. However, Nokia is yet to specify how many users will be affected by this charger recall program.
