Google Chrome OS On It’s Way?
Robert Boland | Nov 14, 2009 | Comments
Firstly I’d like to say “Hello!” This is my first post ( of hopefully many ) for Connected Internet. Some of our readers may know me from Windows 7 News where I write a couple of posts a week. I was delighted when Everton asked me if I’d be interested in writing some posts for this site, and of course I jumped at the opportunity! So I hope you find my post interesting and I look forward to reading your comments.
Now back to business:
Rumours of Google’s new OS Google Chrome have been increasing lately with the news that the new OS could become
available as soon as next week in the form of a Beta release. According to the guys over at Techcrunch, they’ve heard from multiple reliable sources that the new OS is on it’s way. Google had previously announced that the OS would be available from the fall so this coincides with that statement.
A while back we had an article up which had what possible could have been some of the first screenshots of the new Chrome OS, see it here. Now these were very basic screenshots so we will wait and see if they turn out to be true.
Techcrunch brought up the topic of driver support for Google Chrome OS, will there be any available? Every new OS’s biggest problem is driver support as nobody wants to have to have to mess around with drivers in order to get a working computer. Google are said to have a big team working on the issue, making compatible hardware drivers and they are also working with manufacturers like HP and Toshiba on the driver issue.
It’s also thought that Google may only offer the Beta on a small set of devices like net books for the time being.
So now all thats left to do is wait, what do you think Google’s new OS will be like? Will it be a success? Let us know in the comments
