This time we have a lot of iPhone apps and accessories to talk about. We have something that will give your iPhone a much needed 8x optical zoom (!) and there’s a start up company that has just (effectively) delivered 10 million ringtones to iPhone users – for free. And if you have an iPod Touch and intensely want GPS on it – you wish has just been granted.
We also look at a way to stream live to iPhone users without ever needing Apple’s approval for it.
Myxer Gives 10,000,000 FREE Ringtones To iPhone Users
If you use an iPhone and are too lazy to make your own ringtones, the new mobile content delivery start up company called Myxer has just done it for you. They have done it 10,000,000 (10 million) times over. That’s 10 million ringtones, for free, for iPhone users to download. Even if you use a new ringtone every hour, it will last you for more than 1000 years!
They deliver this content through a podcast so that any iTunes user can automate ringtone recovery directly from the channel. There is also a standalone website where you can download the content through catalogues. [read]
Livestream Procaster Lets Anyone Stream Live To iPhones
Livestream has announced a free service through which anyone can stream live video to iPhone and iPod Touch users. Called Liverstream Procaster, this service utilized the built in QuickTime player in the iPhone OS to playback the streaming videos. So that there is no App Store approval required.
Users can start streaming after a mere five minute setup time and they do not have to purchase any third party proprietary encoder either because LiveStream provides for that too. [read]
Pizza Hut’s iPhone App Smash Hit!
Now even Pizza hut has its own app. So can you order your pizza through it? Yes you can do that and it seems like the app has been quite a hit. While people really hated the spam-loving Facebook app, the iPhone app from Pizza Hut has apparently generated over $1 million in sales in just 3 months after it was made available for free on the app store. This is actually an iPod Touch news but we all know that it is really the phone-less iPhone. There is a new iPod accessory in town and it is called Dual XGLS300. What it does is it adds GPS functionality to your iPod Touch. The iPod itself does not have a GPS chip inside, this gadget adds the functionality to it.
