Wordpress DB Cache Reloaded Plugin – Faster Caching

I run a number of sites on a dedicated server which runs a number of sites including this site, Windows 7 News and a few others. On busy days my server has to cope with a fair amount of traffic which and the guys at askapache help out every month or so to make sure the server is running smoothly. This week they added a new plugin to my site that they’d been testing for a few weeks.
DB Cache Reloaded is an improved version of the DB Cache plugin that speeds up wordpress by caching database queries rather than caching pages, which is how much plugins like WP Super Cache work. Because most pages use the same database queries once a page has been cached, then DB Cache Reloaded can help serve subsequent pages faster. It can be used with WP Super Cache i.e. if a page hasn’t been viewed before then DB cache will probably speed up the loading speed, and if it has then WP Super Cache will display the static version of the page.
The DB Cache plugin only worked up to WordPress 2.8, so the DB Cache Reloaded team have updated the code as well as fixing and tidying up the code. If you want to try and improve your wordpress speed then this plugin is definitely one to try.
