621472dccd AT&T Launches Prepaid Wireless Broadband To Increase User BaseAfter facing a series of attacks from rival Verizon Wireless, US mobile telephony and wireless broadband service provider AT&T has decided to revamp its existing services and roll out new ones. That explains why AT&T launched a new wireless broadband scheme for prepaid users on Monday. The cost of the company’s newly launched DataConnect Pass plan is equivalent to rival Verizon’s plan.

The users can avail of the service on a daily pass which gives them 75 MB of data usage at a cost of $15. As an alternative they can opt for the weekly prepaid plan. For it, the users need to pay $30 and avail a data usage of 250 MB. However, the monthly plan is the most affordable at $50 and it offers the users a data limit of 500MB, a hefty capacity indeed.

Both Verizon Wireless and AT&T have offered prepaid cell phone service for some years. However, they offered wireless broadband only on rental basis till a few days back. The business users prefer wireless broadband as it allows them to connect to the web using their laptop on the move. The 3G network of the companies ensure high speed internet access for the users.

The niche players like Virgin Mobile and Leap Wireless realized the importance of prepaid broadband services long ago. They have some prepaid internet plans on offer. The unlimited data plan of Leap Wireless available for $40 per month is a popular plan among the consumers. However, AT&T needs to improve its 3G network as the iPhone user base has overburdened it.
