Well it seems that every little does help, Tesco in the UK now has the iPhone coming to its Tesco mobile network. The iPhone will be available before Christmas on the Tesco mobile network but we have not got an actual release date as yet. They will have both the 3G and 3GS models available and users can opt to have a “Pay Monthly” contract or the “Pay As You Go” option. But whats important here is that they will have the iPhone available to users before Christmas, beating Vodafone to the mark who wont be getting it until January next year.
The good news for consumers in the UK is this could finally spark off the price war which Orange failed to bring. Tesco have said they want to be as competitive as possible but we still are waiting to hear official price plans. They already have a £30 a month plan which gives users Unlimited Data, Calls and Texts which is much better than Oranges plans for the iPhone.
While we are still waiting for an official release date, Tesco have said it will be available to pick up in store or online and they have a page up on their site where users can register their interest for the iPhone.
Tesco’s mobile network uses O2′s network so you would effectively be using their network, so if the reason you never got the iPhone on O2 was because of poor coverage, i’m afraid you will still have the same problems.
So what do you think, Will UK consumers finally get the price war they’ve been looking for? Let us know in the comments
