I’ve been selected to be part of the private beta for a new mobile application service from Orange called ON. I’m not allowed to say much about the ON service until it launches on the 9th December as I’ve signed an NDA, but the service definitely looks exciting and solves a lot of problems that I encounter with social networking services like twitter in terms of controlling who can see my tweets or updates. One perk of being a beta tester of ON is Orange have given me an Android handset to use
The ON team from Orange have released a preview video on YouTube under the user LifeisBetterOn that does give some hints as to what the ON mobile service will be:

ON is a new service that is designed to make a real difference to the way we stay in touch with the people who matter, via our mobile phone. Unique to ON is that we recognize how each of us is many things to many people: I’m a father, son, ex-boyfriend, husband, boss, best-mate, failed pianist, catowner, food-lover — something that is fundamental when youstart bringing all your contacts together and ‘socializing’ them. So we have built the entire service around this.
We are currently in Private Beta. We will be in Public beta by mid-December.
This means that while we build up our confidence we are only letting a few hundred or so people explore our service and take it to bits.
If you are reading this, it means you are probably like to be one of them. If you are selected to be one of us, We really hope that you will enjoy the experience, see the promise, and point us in the right direction when we have got it wrong.
Look out for more details from me on the new mobile service ON next month.
