The evidence is mounting and the date is approaching, it seems the official release of the Google Phone is on the cards. Earlier today Tmonews, a blog that obsessively tracks the movements of T-Mobile, claimed they had tracked internal documents relating to the Google Phone – The Nexus One.
According to the report, T-Mobile are getting ready for an Android device, but they won’t be selling it. Only offering coverage , billing, features and rate plans. The document outlines that the android device will be sold solely by Google via the web. This also would lead us to believe that the rumor of Google selling the Nexus One directly to customers and Sim free is true.
Tmonews also claim that their sources have informed them that the device will go on sale from January 5th at 9am. If this is true, it means that the Google Phone will go on sale just before the CES Trade show starts. Tmonews have no word on pricing or features as of yet but hope to get some more details in the near future.
And finally Google themselves have announced something officially in the last few hours. Google have announced a Android Press Event at Mountain View on January 5th. In a letter to Engadget they stated:
With the launch of the first Android-powered device just over a year ago, we’ve seen how a powerful, open platform can spur mobile product innovation. And this is just the beginning of what’s possible.
Please join us in Mountain View on January 5, for an Android press gathering.
So with this official date from Google and all the other rumors concluding that January 5th would be the date we first see the Google phone, it looks like Google will be the first company to get its first major release for 2010.
